Fourth of July Extravaganza

Welcome to the family, Zee!
As a a throw back to the good old days.  My parents decided to plan a family trip to Idaho for a traditional fourth of July celebration.

Friday
We arrived Friday evening in Idaho Falls.  We rented the home of a local family for the weekend and were pleasantly surprised with a home theater, hair salon and sewing room.  As much as we wanted to spend the weekend crafting and styling one another's hair, the only bonus room we really took advantage of was the media room.  The most important thing we did was meet our future sister-in-law.

Saturday

The annual Nelson Classic golf invitational took place at Heise.  Of course there were plenty of prizes to go around--evena few extra for non-participants like me!  Meanwhile Elliott, Nicole, Claribel and I hit up the pools.

Elliott loved the giant dandelions outside the house we rented in the yard.
Sunday
Bill blessed beautiful little William "Liam" Call.  We barbecued up some steaks and celebrated Chris and Peter's Birthdays.  Then we went over to the Zollingers for some rootbeer floats, cookies, and soccer where we met Zee's family.
A little present from a little person, and my sad attempt at a yellow cake with chocolate frosting (Snedecor tradition)

Monday, the Fourth of July
Happy Birthday to Pete and our country!  Let the barfing begin!  Ben woke up sick Monday morning.  Pizza and cotton candy at the Zollingers; farewell to Pete, Matt and Ally; Car Rally and BBQ at the Car Barn; Ben goes to the emergency room; and the best fireworks west of the Mississippi
Claribel spent the week giving Elliott kisses--some of them were gentler than others.

It took Uncle Boyd, a true cowboy, to wrangle these bucking broncos

Tuesday
The sick count continues.  We pack up and head to Island Park to stay at Uncle Kevin's cabin minus mom who is lying incapacitated in Aunt Billies guest bedroom.

Wednesday
A big day!  Four-wheeling, boating with Bill and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" at the Play Mill in West Yellowstone.  Add me to the list of sickies.

Thursday
A quick drive to Yellowstone and then we picked up Ben from the hospital who ended up having issues with his kidney and not just the regular flu symptoms like the rest of us.  One last visit with Grandma Shirley.

We weren't really sure he was well enough
to be released, but we went with it.

Beautiful as usual with Sonny on her lap.
(Or was it Cher??)

Cousins

Friday
Check-out, lunch with an adorably pregnant Hailey Bradshaw, and a rough trip home: is it REALLY necessary for infants to take off their shoes at security??

Overall, an adventurous week with lots of fun and family.  It was great to get to visit with aunts and uncles and cousins who we don't get to see often.

  1. I am so glad you have a blog. I love the pictures. I had no idea that Chris was engaged! It was so good to see him and your mom at my dad's funeral. It meant a lot to us that Lynn, your Mom and Donna drove out.
