Its summer again which means our annual trip to NY. Peter looks forward to this from the day he returns the previous year. This trip was particularly special, however, because our dearest Pop-pop (Pete's grandfather) turned the big 8-5 on June 19 which just happened to be Father's Day as well.
Day 1: Friday Elliott took his first airplane ride. He slept almost the whole way, except for 6 unexpected hours we spent in Detroit because our connection flight was canceled. He was a champ! When we arrived we surprised Pop-pop at dinner and he was so happy to see us--"us" meaning Elliott.

Day 2: Saturday
Pete's entire extended family was in town for the start of a weekend of celebrating: visiting, barbequing, swimming, and a grand presentation for Pop-pop of "This is Your Life."

and the planting of the honorary rose garden for Pop-pop--one rose bush for each grandchild and great-grandchild.
Happy first Father's Day to Pete!
Farewell to the Copes and Portlocks, and a fishing excursion to Lamoka for Pete, Steve, Barbara and Doug. Day 4: Monday
Special Fishing Trip, strawberry pie, and farewell to Steve and Hailey.

And the Great Bee Fiasco...
As I was reeling in one of the last fish of the day, a great swarm of bees attacked our vessel. I would like to say I battled on, but after just a few minutes of reeling as Doug flicked them off my fingers and face and out of my hair, I handed the pole over to him to reel in dinner.
Day 5: Tuesday
Hike up Watkins Glenn and more strawberry pie and farewell to Uncle Bruce.
